Mindful Literacy

Wishing to add "soul" to the standards? Experience first-hand the research-based benefits of mindfulness, including stress reduction and increased well-being, and expand your creative thinking in a safe, nurturing environment. We'll be modelling activities you can apply immediately in your classroom. This workshop series will include guided practices anchoring attention on sounds, breath, and body sensations. Next we'll read and analyze poetry that echoes the day's theme and builds vocabulary. Finally, we'll use these published works to inspire our own creative writing. Return to school with the tools to begin offering poetry-inspired writing lessons as well as brief mindfulness practices in your classroom.
