The Integrated Learning Department

Inventing Our Future is hosted by the Alameda County Office of Education Integrated Learning Department.  We promote project-based learning to improve student engagement, understanding, and performance across subject areas. We train and support new and veteran teachers to infuse creativity, technology, and service learning during in-school and after school programming. Our department also collaborates with school districts and community partners to build and sustain positive and healthy school environment.

Integrated Learning Department staff includes experts in arts integration, student wellness, school culture, service learning, after school programming, and innovate technology integration. In addition to Inventing Our Future we also coordinate the Region 4/SPAN Afterschool Programs Office, which provides technical assistance to support high-quality Expanded Learning Programs.  Art IS Education is an annual, month-long showcase demonstrating the power of youth learning in and through the arts. Through the Integrated Learning Specialist Program we provide a trans-disciplinary set of courses that envisions and nurtures new paradigms for teaching and learning.

This work is also supported by the work of the Alliance for Arts Learning Leadership of the Bay Area, a project in partnership with six other County Offices of Education in the CCESSA Region 4 (including Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, and Solano).
