Mohamed Adam
Mohamed is an admitted attorney and also holds an LLM in International Trade Law from the University of Essex in the UK. He held several positions in a professional and management role, and currently he is General Counsel and GM Regulation at ArcelorMittal South Africa Ltd. His experience includes involvement in executive management, legal and compliance, ethics, corporate governance, sustainability and integrated reporting. He has been a member of the King Committee on Corporate Governance for many years and served on the King IV task team. He is also a member of the IRC of South Africa’s Working Group and a director of The Ethics Institute. He is the co-author, together with Dr Reuel Khoza, of The Power of Governance: Enhancing the Performance of State-Owned Enterprises (2005). BA LLB (Wits) LLM
Bastian Buck
Bastian has been working for the GRI for the past 15 years in technical roles. Since 2013, leading the team that develops the GRI Standards, the leading global sustainability reporting standards. He is a member of the GRI’s Executive Team. Achievements include the introduction of the G4 Guidelines in 2013 and the GRI Standards in 2016. Recent standard setting projects overseen include Occupational Health and Safety, Water, Human Rights, Tax, Waste and the first GRI Sector Standards on Oil and Gas. Bastian has presented on sustainability reporting in more than 45 countries.
Mark Hoffman
Mark joined Deloitte in 2019 as a Partner in Assurance Services, having previously worked with KPMG for 29 years. Mark has worked with over 150 organisations in implementing and improving their integrated reporting processes and systems. He has extensive experience on the development of IR processes, methodologies, report production, integrated assurance, King IV governance disclosures, as well as strategy, performance reporting, risk management, stakeholder engagement, governance and remuneration applications. Fay Hoosain
Fay is a non-executive director of The Ethics Institute and the CEO of Big Ticket Items. She has been involved in integrated reporting as a preparer, decision-maker and advisor since 2012. Among her various executive roles, as Chief of Staff to the CEO and President of Sasol, Fay was responsible for formulating and rolling out internal governance processes relating to corporate reporting, stakeholder engagements and internal and external communications, including the preparation, input and sign-off of Sasol’s integrated reports. Fay has served as a subject-matter expert and spokesperson for Sasol and Business Unity South Africa on a range of corporate governance matters. She regularly presents and contributes to research papers, best practice case studies and panel discussions as an expert on integrated reporting. She advises executives and boards on their integrated reports and the related internal governance processes and strategic content-shaping. BA LLB LLM
Professor Suresh Kana
Suresh is the Chairman of Murray & Roberts Limited and the Lead Independent Director of the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and Transaction Capital Limited. He is the Deputy Chair of the IRC of South Africa and serves as a trustee of the International Financial Reporting Standards Foundation which oversees the setting of global accounting standards. He has been actively involved in the committee set up for the establishment of the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) announced at COP26.
He serves as the Chairman of the Oversight Advisory Committee of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) based in Rome. The WFP aims at Zero Hunger and in 2020 provided 118 million beneficiaries with food assistance in 82 countries. Suresh was the CEO and senior partner of PwC Southern Africa and PwC Africa and a member of the PwC Global Board, until his retirement in 2015. CA(SA), MCom, PhD (Honorary)
Professor Mervyn King
Mervyn is the Chair of the IRC of South Africa, Chair of the African Integrated Reporting Council and Chair Emeritus of the King Committee on Corporate Governance in South Africa. He is Co-Chair Emeritus of the Value Reporting Foundation and is Chair Emeritus of the GRI. He is a member of the Private Sector Advisory Group to the World Bank on Corporate Governance and the Patron of The Good Governance Academy. Mervyn is a Senior Counsel and former Judge of the Supreme Court of South Africa. He is professor extraordinaire at the University of South Africa on Corporate Citizenship, honorary professor at the Universities of Pretoria and Cape Town, a visiting professor at Rhodes, and a professor at the Wits Business School at the University of the Witwatersrand. He has also received honorary doctorates from a number of universities around the world. He has received lifetime achievement awards for promoting quality corporate governance globally from the ICGN and other organisations, as well as a number of honorary fellowships and international awards. Mervyn chaired the UN Committee of Eminent persons on Governance and Oversight and was President of the Advertising Standards Authority for 15 years and a member of the ICC Court of Arbitration in Paris for seven years. He has been the chair, director and chief executive of several listed companies. He has consulted, advised and spoken on legal, business, advertising, sustainability and corporate governance issues in over 60 countries. He sits as an arbitrator and mediator internationally. He is the author of seven books on governance, sustainability and reporting.
Karin Ireton
Karin is an international specialist in sustainability strategy, issues management and reporting, with executive experience in multi-national blue chip companies, including the Africa’s largest bank, the Standard Bank Group, mining giant Anglo American and Eskom, South Africa’s electricity utility. Since 2015 Karin has run an independent sustainability consultancy. Recent projects include work for the World Bank, the IFC in its support for the SA National Treasury and the Central Bank of Ghana. She has undertaken work for UNEP FI, developing guidance to support the Principles for Responsible Banking and a review of sustainable development reporting by public sector entities for UNEP. An experienced non-executive director, she works with listed company boards on governance and climate change management.
Corli le Roux
Corli is a Certified Director®, independent ESG consultant and Associate of Six Capitals ESG Advisory, carrying B.A. LL.B. degrees from the Rand Afrikaans University. Corli provides strategic analysis and advisory services on sustainability and reporting to a range of clients in business and investment. She serves on the GRI Global Sustainability Standards Board, is an honorary member of the IRC of SA, and a member of the Judging Panel of the Chartered Governance Institute of Southern Africa (CGISA) Integrated Reporting Awards and the Land Bank’s M&E External Peer Review Panel. Previously, Corli led the Johannesburg Stock Exchange’s work and positioning in relation to sustainability for 15 years.
Jayne Mammatt
Jayne is the Partner in charge of PwC South Africa’s Sustainability and Climate Change department, and ESG Lead for Africa, where she focuses on: Sustainable development strategy, framework, reporting and assurance; Sustainable Development Goals; Integrated reporting and management; ESG; Social and environment impact and outcomes measurement; Safety, health and environment risk, performance and compliance; Climate change risk and resilience. Jayne is a Chartered Accountant but has been working in the areas of corporate governance, sustainable development and climate change since 2002, working across a variety of industries including mining, oil and gas, banking, insurance, telecommunications, technology, construction, real estate and state-owned entities. She has written various “thought leadership” articles for publication and presented at numerous conferences. She was a member of the IoDSA Sustainable Development Forum, the IRC of SA Working Group and the NBI’s Advisory Committee on Environment and Sustainability. Currently, she is a board member of the IRC of SA and a member of the King sub-committee on climate change.
Dr Jeremy Osborn
Jeremy is the Value Reporting Foundation’s Director of Business Relationships and Networks, working with a wide variety of international stakeholders and organizations to support the scaling and adoption of integrated reporting, integrated thinking and SASB Standards. Jeremy has previously worked for EY, The Prince’s Accounting for Sustainability Project and Accenture, advising clients across a wide range of sectors on how to integrate their sustainability strategy with their core business objectives, and then measure and communicate the value which this creates for their investors and other key stakeholders. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, holds a D.Phil. on the history of the East India Company and graduated with First Class honours in Modern History from Oxford University. Leigh Roberts
Leigh has been involved in the development of integrated reporting in South Africa and internationally. She is a founder with Professor Mervyn King of the IRC of South Africa and is its current CEO and the Chair of the Working Group. She was involved in the development of the International <IR> Framework as a member of the IIRC Task Team, and in its revision in 2021 as a member of the Framework Board. Leigh has co-authored two books with Professor Mervyn King: Integrate: Doing Business in the 21st Century (Juta) and The Healthy Company (Juta). She has run the board and executive sessions in South Africa and internationally and is a specialist trainer for the Institute of Directors in South Africa and the JSE. CA(SA).
Michael Zimonyi
Michael leads CDSB’s policy and external affairs work. He joined CDSB in 2012 and focuses on policy and corporate engagement and oversees external affairs. Prior to joining CDSB, Michael has
worked at a global pharmaceutical corporation and at the sustainability think tank Forum for the Future. Michael has a degree in Chemistry with Environmental Science from the University of
Birmingham and studied Sustainable Finance at the University of Oxford. He is also a member of the UK Financial Reporting Council’s Stakeholder Advisory Panel, the EU Expert Group on the
European financial data space.
